Process

Routings

It refers to a group of machine/equipment or people that have the similar functions or capacities. It is usually the one to be instructed, in response to which a factory manager or the person in charge of allocating worker(s) decides who will do the work using which machine or equipment.
The type of process is roughly classified into four: processing, inspection, transportation, and delay operations.
Processing:
it includes machining, assembling, and disassembling products.
Inspection:
it is a process to measure whether the item is acceptable or rejectable, and it is generally done for its quantity and quality.
Transportation:
it refers to the transfer among processes, and there are two cases: manual and automated transportation (i.e. a conveyor system)
Delay:
it refers to the status of work-in-process such as storage or waiting for the next process. In addition, the setup of process includes Job Shop (arrangement by function), GT Shop (job flow), Flow Shop (arrangement by product), and Line, and it has various types of name: pre-process, post-process, bottleneck process, alternative process, first process, final process, and etc. Speaking of "Process" in the production control information system, it refers to the master data which is the information specific to such field process as processing and inspection gathered together, and data contents include process number, process name, standard capacity, and maximum capacity.
