Damper

Damper

In operating MRP, some change in plan always occurs. The change ranges from significant ones where the plan itself will be in vain to negligible ones where the plan will not be influenced very much. But if any brakes not, MRP accept all changes, and sets up a new plan. Damper is to reduce the influence of change so that MRP would not re-plan in response to such insignificant change. Most changes are usually made in delivery and quantity, in response to which damper serves in delivery and quantity. The former is called Order Timing Damper, while the latter is called Quantity Change Damper. Order Timing Damper and Quantity Change Damper make MRP not to re-plan as long as in the case where the difference caused by the change is marginal in planned delivery and quantity, respectively.
