Flow Shop
Flow Shop, Line Layout
It is a form of facility setup, and is also called Line Layout. This refers to the process or shop which, when all works (jobs) have the same processing route, is set up based on the flow. This is useful to the repeated production which has the fixed job flow and a relatively large quantity of production. In this case, it is easier to control the flow of jobs, while it is more difficult to respond to the diversification of product. When each machine or facility has different operation time, it is needed to form an assembly line by setting a pitch time of each work and performing line balancing.
