Change Based on Serial Number
It is a method to switch old items to new ones in the engineering change by specifying the product serial number. As shown in the figure, let's take the case where the engineering of Item a, the child item of Product X is changed as an example. The requirements of Part a is now 15, among which 10 parts and 5 parts are demanded by serial number X01 and X02, respectively. If X02 uses Part e instead of Part a, the requirements of Part a would be 10 and the requirements of Part e should be 5.
In this way, the breakdown showing which serial number demands the requirements of each item is necessary for the engineering change using serial numbers, which is usually called Pegging Requirements to show the source of the requirements of each item. Such Pegged Requirement, however, has huge volumes of data, and thus compact or office computers are difficult to maintain it for its limited capacity.
