Capacity

Capacity

It refers to the workload producible in a process for a certain period of time, and is usually expressed as "time".
The followings are the examples of Capacity:

Standard Capacity:
the ability to produce items in a standard process
Maximum Capacity:
the ability to produce the maximum quantity/quality of items in a process
Set Capacity:
the ability to be set based on the relationship between the maximum capacity and load

Capacity may be restricted by not only the limited number of machine, facility, and metallic mold tool but also staff with special skills and subcontractors. While capacity means "producible quantity", load means "assigned quantity", and is also expressed as "time".
Regarding the production schedule of products or service parts whose plans are made through the production planning, the bottleneck process's capacity/load is considered through RCP (Rough-cut Capacity Planning), and the schedule is adjusted to a feasible production schedule, and then entered into MRP. At that point the process master ,which standard capacity, maximum capacity and so on are registered, is referred. After MRP is performed, CRP (Capacity Requirements Planning) is performed by each process.
