Summarized Explosion
It is used to create a Summarized Bill of Materials or used as an explosion logic of MRP by exploring the lower-level items of the specified item level by level (using low level code) from top to bottom, The figure shows how an explosion is done when the explosion of Item Z is required: the data of Item Z is first searched; Product Structure Z-X is referred using Chain (1); the Child Item X is referred using Where-used Chain (2); the requirement is generated; Product Structure Z-b is referred (3); the Child Item b is referred (4); the requirement of b is generated. Next the first level of requirement is extracted as follows: since the lower-level code of Item X is level 1, the requirement is extracted and explored to Child Item a and b, and then each requirement is generated; but since the lower-level code of the first level of Item b is level 2, no extraction is performed at this point; thus the first level of explosion and extraction are over, and then the extraction of Item b is performed; at this point, requirement of Item b explored at level 1 and requirement explored at level 2 are extracted together.
